"Making it easier for you" At the San Diego Breastfeeding Center,
our mission is to provide soon-to-be and new moms with compassionate guidance and education about breastfeeding and newborn care. Our classes, consultations, and support groups seek to nurture the relationship between mother and child and to help our moms feel confident and empowered.

SDBFC offers a variety of classes especially for new parents.
To register for a class, find your class on the calendar below on the right, then use the registration form and payment buttons below to reserve your spot.

Breastfeeding 101
Soon-to-be parents learn about the benefits of breastfeeding, what to expect in the first 2 weeks, breastfeeding positions, and common misconceptions. Both parents are encouraged to attend.
Fee: $35 per couple, includes handouts

Breastfeeding for the Working Mom
For moms who plan to return to work, while continuing to provide breastmilk to their babies. Soon-to-be working moms will learn about pumping and storage guidelines, breast pumps and other pumping equipment, and legislation that protects the breastfeeding mother when she returns to work.

Introducing Solid Foods
While Avoiding Major Allergens

Whether your little one has dairy/gluten/nut issues, or you would like to delay the introduction of highly allergic foods until your child is over a year old, this class is for you. This class will cover the introduction of solid foods from 6 months to 1 year old. You will learn: the order to introduce solid foods that avoid gluten, dairy, and nuts; available healthy baby foods on the market; and how to quickly make simple baby foods.
Fee: $35 per couple, includes handouts.

Instructor, Robin Kaplan
Instructor, Robin Kaplan, received her training as a Certified Lactation Educator and a Internationally Board Certified Lactation Consultant from UCSD. She holds a Masters in Education from UCLA, a multiple-subjects teacher credential from UCLA, and a BA in Psychology from Washington University in St. Louis.
Robin lives in San Diego, CA with her husband, Jason, their two sons, Benjamin and Ryan, and their dog, Tilly. She has a love of cooking, traveling, hiking, going to the beach, and teaching.

FREE GROUP- The Mother's Circle: Parenting and Breastfeeding Support Group Wed. 12pm-1:30pm
Spend time with other moms and babies.  Learn and share valuable parenting advice.  Find out how much breast milk your baby is getting with a pre- and post-feed weight.  Latch, positioning, and other breastfeeding assistance will be offered by a registered lactation consultant.  In addition to mother-to-mother conversation, a new topic will be discussed each week, ranging from infant sleep habits to going back to work.
Pre-registration not necessary.
 
The Mother’s Circle is led by Robin Kaplan, M.Ed., IBCLC, RLC, a registered lactation consultant and owner of the San Diego Breastfeeding Center.
